When evaluating new crosslinks, it is important to address the heat resistance vs. fatigue property compromise.

1．｢～した時､｣の表現法

　第５回目は、科学論文でよく見かける「～した時、」に関する表現法です。

1.1　“when”単独使用による表現法
例1：When the results after aging are examined, the pattern changes drastically in favor of the new system.
（老化後の結果を考慮した時、その型式は新しいシステムが有利になるように劇的に変化する。）

例2：Used tyres are usually generated when drivers replace old tyres with new tyres or when registered vehicles are abandoned.
（古いタイヤを新タイヤに履き替える時、あるいは登録された自動車を廃車にする時、中古タイヤは発生する。）

　①例1の“When” で始める文では、その節の最後に「，」が必要だが、例2のように文の途中で用いる時は、“when”の前に「，」は不要。
　②例2は二通りの“when”を併記する時の表現法。

1.2　“when～ing”による表現法
例3：When examining the data compiled in Table I, both cross-linking systems have a strong impact on the Tg of the ABC compounds.
（表1にまとめられたデータを考察した時、両架橋系はABC配合ゴムのTgに多大な影響力を持つ。）
